Cannes Lion – Captain Morgan Augmented Reality

Captain Morgan’s “Captains Conquest” social game recently won a Lion at Cannes. Anomaly NY produced the app with Unit9 providing creative input and Kudan’s augmented reality proudly powering the app’s ‘Scope’ feature.

The app demonstrates our passion for appropriate inclusion of AR. By ‘scanning’ Captain Morgan bottles the user can ‘power-up’ and interact with the physical product. Despite this, even if you don’t have a bottle of Captain Morgan’s on-hand you can still enjoy the game (without the AR experience).

This app reflects our ‘App with AR’ philosophy (not ‘AR App!’). By sensitively including AR technology for an enhanced experience, the client gets a double benefit of cutting edge physical product interaction in-game without damaging the experience for those who don’t happen to have a bottle of Captain Morgan’s to hand.

This app is good not because it uses AR, it’s a well designed game that uses AR to make it even better. Captain Morgan Augmented Reality – we’ll drink to that!
